THE PROBLEM
The Newest Drugs Leave Tremendous Room for Improvement
The latest IV-infused drugs targeting amyloid slow disease progression by 27-29% (Lecanemab – van Dyck et al 2023 and Donanemab – Eli Lilly Press Release 2023), with burdensome side-effects such as brain swelling and brain bleeding (ARIA-E/ARIA-H), which require periodic MRI safety monitoring. This leaves an enormous need for new and complementary therapies that further slow disease progression, safely and less invasively.
